The projecTT 806 Story:
My name is Dave Curren and I am the founder of projecTT 806.
Anybody remember 3rd and 26 in Austin on November 4th 1989? That’s right, Gill to Manyweather was phenomenal to watch in person. I was at that game as a Senior in high school and that is when I decided he was going to Texas Tech. Earlier that year, Jenni Raney enrolled at Texas Tech, and when I got there in the fall of 1990, we started dating.
From David Klingler’s Cougars coming to town on an early Thursday with Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers playing at halftime, to the Cotton Bowl against Keyshawn and the USC Trojans, to the 2024 season, Texas Tech has been a huge part of our lives since we met and has continued to be a huge part of our lives since we got married in June of 1994. We watch every football game, attending most home games these days (shout out to section 103), every basketball game, and every baseball game. If someone is playing checkers, has Red Raiders on their jersey, and it’s available to watch, you can bet I am streaming that event.
Texas Tech runs deep in our family and has brought us so many memories. Our first two kids went to games with us when they were younger and both went to Tech, and our youngest was born 5 weeks early on June 23, 2009. You do the math on that one and find out if you think he was conceived the night of the Crabtree Catch. I wanted to name him Michael Crabtree Curren but even as big of a Red Raider as Jenni is, she shot me down.
I bought a Sporting Goods company in San Antonio in 2016 and we sell Uniforms to Youth Leagues, PE Uniforms to middle schools, printed tees and corporate branded apparel. After years in business and with my love of Texas Tech, I started projecTT 806 with an online store that did quite well. That store got my wheels spinning and I knew I needed to take this a bit more serious. At its core, projecTT 806 was founded to help me pay for my Red Raider sporting event addiction. With the changing landscape in collegiate athletics and with NIL (Name Image and Likeness) playing a large part in the success of college teams, I decided to make projecTT 806 a fundraiser for The Matador Club, which is the NIL Collective for Texas Tech. 50% of the profits from projecTT 806 go to the Matador Club as a way for us to help Red Raider Athletes as best we can.
We are honored to have you on our site and hope you will remain a customer for a long time. The more you buy, the more we give to The Matador Club. We plan to continue building this brand and adding great new products as we grow. If you have an idea for a product, please reach out to let us know. As our mantra states, this place is “of Red Raiders, by Red Raiders, for Red Raiders”.
Gun’s Up and we hope to see you soon,
Jenni and Dave Curren
